Peruvian women

Welcome to our blog about history of women in Peruvian society. We are a group of university students who are dedicated to exploring and sharing the stories of women throughout Peru’s complex history.

We invite readers to join us on this journey of discovery and learning, as we explore the fascinating and often-overlooked stories of women in Peruvian society. Together, we can work to create a more inclusive and equitable understanding of history, one that recognizes the crucial role that women have played in shaping the world we live in today.

Peruvian society has a rich and diverse history and for centuries and women have played critical roles in their communities. From the Inca empire to the modern society, women have made significant contributions to social, political and cultural fabric of Perú.

Our mission with this blog is to analyze woman participation in Peruvian society as active members of a community in in different periods of our history. Our goal is to discuss how in our context, the roles of women in Peruvian society made a huge impact in the country by uncovering and sharing these stories to become them visible. In another hand, in Peru many stories of different women in different periods of history are not visible as nowadays because of the systematic discrimination to women that have existed since early periods. For example, in the colonial times a lot of woman have been judged of witchcraft and adultery by the court or the holy inquision.

Our vision is to bring a different and contemporary perspective of Peruvian women at first with diversity of living conditions, culture and traditions native of our country or adopted of other parts of the world or civilizations that have many thoughts of being a woman depending on the influences of the country´s worldview. As is said, when Peru was conquered by the Spaniards many fundamental rights of woman were violated. As far as we can tell, indigenous woman couldn´t be against the conqueror because they would be judged by the court and always the spanish men have the acces to justice because of racism and gender inequality.

We invite readers to join us on this journey of discovery and learning, as we explore the fascinating and often-overlooked stories of women in Peruvian society. Together, we can work to create a more inclusive and equitable understanding of history, one that recognizes the crucial role that women have played in shaping the world we live in today.
