Women's participation in politics and decision-making Peruvian women's participation in politics and decision-making has made progress and challenges. Peru is a South American country with a rich cultural heritage and a diverse population. Over the years, women in Peru have made progress in terms of political participation, but they continue to face obstacles in achieving full gender equality in political representation and decision-making positions. In recent years, there have been positive developments in women's political participation in Peru. In 2019, Peru adopted a gender quota law that requires political parties to ensure that at least 40% of their candidates for Congress are women. This has led to an increase in the number of women in Peru's Congress.
